Existence is Foundational in Creation
Existence underlies all in creation. For anything to exist Existence itself must exist! Existence is the precursor for creation. It is the one thing that cannot be removed from the scene. Existence is the primary Absolute.
Even if we consider that creation derives from a vacuum state or fields of nothingness, etc., we’re still saying that these states exist. They have the quality of Existence and are preceded by Existence. For example, even the expression ‘nothing exists’ pre-supposes Existence. This phrase is paradoxical, as it associates an absence with a presence. However, we can resolve this paradox by recognising that Existence isn’t a thing. Even if we have no ‘things’ we still have Existence. Existence is the fundamental predicate.
Pure Existence is an Absolute Reality
Pure Existence precedes and exists independently of All manifestations. It has an absolute reality. It is ineffable. But we can still relate to it. In ancient Chinese traditions it is described as the ‘Tao’, in Indian traditions as ‘Brahman’. It is often described also as ‘Beingness’ or ‘Being’, ‘Amness’ or ‘I Am’. In terms of Divinity, it is often described as ‘God’, ‘Source God’ or ‘Source’. In more modern terms the ‘vacuum state’ ‘wholeness’ and ‘unified field’ in physics approach this state.
In more practical terms, we can relate to it as ‘Aliveness’, the Universal Life Field that underlies all creation and that animates all in creation. It is the Pure Essence of All Life. We can also relate to it as ‘Consciousness’, more particularly as the ‘Unity Consciousness’ underlying all Expressions of Consciousness. A simple description is – ‘Total Aliveness that is Absolutely Free’. A convenient reference name is ‘Source’. But we each have our own relationship with this reality, to the extent we are Alive, and can formulate it in the most meaningful way for ourselves.
Consciousness is the Unifying Principle in Creation
Pure Aliveness / Consciousness is the precursor for Creation. Aliveness / Consciousness expresses within Creation. There is a very subtle distinction made between Pure Aliveness and Consciousness. Aliveness or Being is the Pure Essence of All within Itself. Consciousness is this same Aliveness within Creation, which itself is within Source. From a perspective within creation, they are the same.
Such expressions of Life permeate and animate Creation, at all levels. Consciousness in its active phase projects creation, in all its multiple diversity. In its receptive phase it experiences, senses or ‘sees’ creation, in its multiplicity of living realities. It integrates the experience and brings it ‘home’.
Pure consciousness isn’t a product of creation. It’s a foundational principle for creation. It interacts with creation but differs fundamentally from the forms it uses for expression in creation. It integrates experience in creation and provides meaning, value and purpose for it. It also integrates connection throughout creation, forming a unifying principle for creation.
Pure Existence Precedes and is Unconditioned by Anything in Creation
Pure existence is not dependent on creation nor on anything within creation. It has fundamentally equal relationship with all in creation. If it had a special relationship with specific instants, locations or aspects of creation then it would be conditioned by such relationships. This has extremely profound implications!
From a vantage point within creation, we tend to take a ‘bottom up’ approach, perceiving realities in terms of our local circumstances in creation. It’s valuable now to supplement this with a ‘top down’ view, from the perspective of the foundational reality within creation. How might all of this look from a ‘Source’ perspective, insofar as we can determine?
Source is Boundless, i.e. not Closed
Pure Existence transcends boundaries and is not limited by them. It is fundamentally open.
Closed systems can arise within creation. But any closed system cannot be fully self-existent, for the fundamentally simple reason that in order to create itself, it would need to exist already. Primary creation derives from Pure Existence.
